There is few academic achievement to analysis the characteristics and value of phenology in Shi Jing (the Classic of Poetry) comprehensively in the current academic research. So this article is intended to do a possible system research of the phenology in Shi Jing (the Classic of Poetry).This article adopts the method of close reading of the text, detailed investigation.Relying on the library of Fujian Normal University,the library of fujian province and network database,as well as the mastered information of the selection, with the teacher’s guidance and help, this article is completed smoothly. The phenology of Shi Jing (the Classic ofPoetry)can be classified the seasonal phenology and other phenology. The function of the phenological description in agricultural poetry is that it can indicates the season,as well as reflect people to grasp the time directly, and hide a strong consciousness of life. The function of the phenological description in love poetry informs the time of date and wedding, or displays a beautiful environment, or rendering a harmonious atmosphere,or compares and symbolizes something. The function of the phenological description in the war poetry is that it shows the passage of time, reflects the soldiers’service time and makes the sensitive soldiers and their wives sad. The cultural roots of phonological description in agricultural poetry is Zhou people’s harmonious natural ecology and agricultural social pragmatic psychology.The cultural roots of phonological description in love poetry is the seasonal marriage custom formed in the farming community. The cultural roots of phonological description in war poetry is the strong homesick psychology influenced by agricultural culture and agricultural way of life.
