Lao Tzu and Zhuang Zi are the representative persons of Taoistschool. Their theories have rich content and they are very profound. LaoTzu thinks Dao follows nature, and he tells people to use dialecticalthinking to view all the people and things. He also thinks rule by doingnothing and people should return to the original state. Zhuang Ziadvocates people live a free and happy life. He pursues individual value,the meaning of life, independent character and free spirit. Wang Mengsays he gets the help from Lao Tzu and enjoys himself in Zhuang Zi’speripateticism world. Their theories are the valuable wealth of ourChinese traditional culture. They also have special value in the field ofliterature and art. So far there aren’t enough and systematic researchachievements that study on the relationship between Wang Meng and LaoTzu and Zhuang Zi. So this thesis tries to make a systematic researchabout this topic. Lao Tzu and Zhuang Zi, the influence of their theorieson Wang Meng is mainly in three aspects. Firstly, as far as his outlook onlife, he has rich and twists life experiences. The life philosophy offollowing the time and fate helps him through the ups and downs of life,and it helps him face the life with optimism and dialectical thinking.Secondly, as far as his literature, he thinks his essence of life is the literature under the influence of returning to the original state. Finally,their theories also affect his View of literature and art. It integrates thefactors of tolerance and game. Under the influence of all the factors,Wang Meng becomes a great writer with integration of modern andtraditional elements. He has special life philosophy and variety of literarystyle.
