Being related with drama during Ming and Qing dynasties, the prints and illustrations were highly realistic, some straightly illustrating scenes of the opera performances, others real life. Thus, we have got much reliable information from them.As a kind of a comprehensive art, drama includes lots of art manifest ations, such as poetry, music, dance, painting, craft and sculpture, etc. and stage perfor mance is the best way for illustrating all of the above arts.Besides, the prints and illustrations in drama-related books are so distinct that they reproduce the real s cene of opera performances, and they could be considered to be another way of illustrating opera performances. The illustrating by these prints and illustrations is relatively distinct from th e real opera performance. So they are very important in the whole opera perfor mance and crucial to the drama art. Ming and Qing dynasties are the productive period for the Chinese classical drama, legends of Ming and qing dynasities and local opera being the best after the Yuan drama. At the same time, publishing a nd print are prosperous during Ming and Qing dynasties. The phenomenon shows that drama is the part of human life. However, it must be pointed out that the pr int materials of drama are only the additional illustrations to operaperformance,s uch as paper-cutting,wood carving, painting, etc. and they provide important image data of drama.
