Study On The Drama Of Wen Ji In Ming And Qing Dynasties

The story that Wen Ji returned to the Han Dynasty has aroused extensive attention from the beginning. Before the Yuan Dynasty, the story was mainly used by poetry. Wen Ji’s returning to Han’s story has been written in the field of drama creation since Yuan Dynasty. The story of Wen Ji’s returning to the Han Dynasty was reproduced all the time and widespread in the field of literature. The drama of Wen Ji was wrote that Wen Ji returned to the Han Dynasty. At present, the existing research of the Wen Ji drama in the Ming and Qing dynasties, or ancient Wen Ji drama research overview of a certain aspects, can’t study as a whole. or a single research of the Wen Ji drama, it is unable to dig out the general characteristics of the Wen Ji drama in Ming and Qing dynasties. So a comprehensive study on the Wen Ji drama which combines with historical background and author’s life experience is necessary. The comprehensive study can contribute to a more comprehensive and objective understanding of the overall characteristics, cause of formation and cultural implication.This thesis embarks from the Wen Ji drama text, combs the story’s origin and the development, summarizes Theme Evolution and its causes, analyses the characteristics and causes of the characters in different Wen Ji drama and discusses the culture connotation of the drama. This thesis has the introduction, the center content four chapters and conclusion.The introduction chapter mainly expounds the origin and significance of the topic, combs the five Wen Ji drama which we discuss and write an overview of the previous research.The first chapter combs the story’s origin and the creation in literature before Ming Dynasty. The story of Wen Ji is recorded by Hou Han Shu and Cai Yan biography in biographically historic literature. Before Ming Dynasty, it was mainly in the form of poetry and painting. The Yuan Dynasty, Wen Ji’s story appeared in the drama.The second chapter focuses on the analysis of the theme of Wen Ji’s story in the drama. According to the creation age, the conservation of the dramas contain the period of The late Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty before the mid and late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. Through the comparative analysis of the Wen Ji drama plot, we know that different dramatist have different understanding and view of Wen Ji’s story and that the theme experienced from expressing personal feelings of a single to politics and the theme of cultural, ethnic, and the coexistence of multiple.The third chapter mainly discusses the characters feature of Wen Ji drama in Ming and Qing dynasties and its causes. Cai Wenji and Cao Cao is the outstanding characters in Wen Ji drama. This chapter through the comparative reading method analyses and summarizes the characteristics and genesis of Cai Wenji and Cao Cao in different Wen Ji drama. Also this chapter briefly discusses the characteristics of Zuoxianwang and Dong Si who are the secondary characters.The fourth chapter focuses on the cultural connotation of Wen Ji drama in Ming and Qing dynasties. The story of Wen Ji widely spread isn’t only a simple literature phenomenon, but also contains culture connotation. This chapter according to the drama plot of "Leaving home-homesick-returning home" and the choice of the behavior of drama characters unscrambles cultural implication which the Wen Ji drama contain.The conclusion chapter to summarizes the full text and briefly analyzes the reason that it continued thousand years in drama creation and points out the deficiencies of the thesis.
