Shanxi Xiaoyi dialect belong to Bingzhou section of Jin dialect.There are somedifferences in XiaoYi dialect. This paper bases on the phonology of the ancientBaibiguan dialect as the main research object, on the basis of a large number of fieldsurvey, absorbs the relevant research results of predecessors of scholars. This paperapplyed description method of and diachronic comparison method to researchsystematically the Baibiguan dialect, in order to indicate its phonetic characteristics anddevelopment trends, and tries to discuss its ownership.Above all, this paper summarizes the geographic location, the history, the humaneconditions, dialect research status of Xiaoyi City and the Baibiguan Village.Secondly, itdescribes the phonology and the relations between initials, finials and tones of Baibiguandialect, sorts out homophones vocabulary of Baibiguan dialect. Thirdly, based on thecomparison between the phonology of Baibiguan dialect and the phonology of medievalChinese, it makes a complete analysis of the corresponding relationship existed both ofthem and the phonetic characteristics of Baibiguan dialect. Fourthly, it analyzes andpredicts the development trend to the difference between spoken language and writtenlanguage of Baibiguan dialect. Finally, it compares the main phonetic characteristics ofBaibiguan dialect with Fenyang dialect and Xiaoyi xiancheng dialect. It can be found thatthere are a lot in common between Baibiguan dialect and Fenyang dialect, there are a lot ofdifferences between Baibiguan dialect and Xiaoyi xiancheng dialect. We think theBaibiguan belongs to the administrative division of Xiaoyi, but its speech-sounds closes toFenyang dialect,so the Baibiguan dialect is part of Fengzhou section of Luliang section.
