Since the Han Dynasty to Tang Dynasty, the highest academic achievements andthe most representative works for explaining Mao Shi were Mao Zhuan, Zheng Jian andZheng Yi, these three works had the same strain and obvious inheritance relationship.Mao Zhuan explained the Book of Songs was concise,“Although the words weresimple, but the subject was far-reaching”, Zheng Jian was mainly based on MaoZhuan,”If the meaning of Mao Zhuan was vague, Zheng Jian described it, If he haddifferent points with Mao Zhuan, he expressed his own views; Zheng Yi did not onlyexplain Mao Zhuan but also explain Zheng Jian, referenced to many differentinterpretations and enriched the contents of the two works, its Shortcoming was that heoften confused with the same and different places of the two works.Ma Ruichen was anexpert of the Book of Songs Science who was proficient in Jin Wen and Gu wen, Helearned about the features and shortcomings of the above three works in order to graspthe main points, use the right medicine and continue to improve the researches on theoriginal basis of the previous, he carefully studied for more than16years and createdMao Shi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi, His purpose was to explain the obscure contents of MaoZhuan, identify the same and different places of the Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian, pointedout and corrected the errors of Zheng Yi, have novel Point, correct previous errors,hisachievement was great, many scholars have praised his work was to study Mao, Zheng,but it was better than the writings of Mao, Zheng. Then gold can not be pure, there arealso deficiencies in Mao Shi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi, such as mistakenly concluded thecorrect interpretation of Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian, misunderstood the meaning ofpoetries because of following Shi Xu, these deficiencies came from the two aspects ofsubjective and objective factors.So far, there are not books that specializes in Mao Shi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi, notpapers which study Mao Shi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi comprehensively from theexplanatory angle. The published papers mostly studied it from the text and literatureangle, and had superficial problems, especially the papers discussing Tongjia of MaoShi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi which spoke generally, without revealing fully theachievements and deficiencies of Mao Shi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi which explained Jiajieof Mao Shi. Therefore, this paper tries to fully explore the academic values andinsufficient of Mao Shi Zhuan Jian Tong Shi form the angle of text and explanation.This thesis is divided into five chapters, the introduction provides a briefintroduction of the Book of Songs in the Qing Dynasty, the research situation of thewritings and Ma Ruichen s life, writings and Confucian ideology; Chapter IIsummarizes the book’s main exegetical method: Explain Jia Jie, looking for the sourceof words, study grammar, describe rhetoric, study things and find a differentsource;The third and fourth chapter attempt to classify the contents of explaination andcorrection for Mao Zhuan, Zheng Jian and Zheng Yi, and select the examples to explainthem one by one, for example: to divide the contents of explanation for Mao Zhuan intofour categories: to supply explanations what are too simple, to descript the explanationswhat are too vague, to resolve the ambiguity that may arise, to focus on the meaning of Xing, and attempt to divide the contents of correction for Mao Zhuan into threecategories: misunderstood the words of Jia Jie, misunderstood language particle,misunderstood the polysemy; The final chapter discusses the shortcomings of works:mistook to conclude the correct interpretation of the predecessors Mao, Zheng, Kong,blindly followed the Shi Xu and inappropriate to use the terms Jia Jie and Sheng Jie.
