With the continuous development of globalization, the scope and level of economicand cultural exchange between China and foreign countries have been deepened, evenmore foreigners came to China for study and work, and thereby it places greaterdemands on Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL). Under the circumstances,contribution should be made by TCFL in the new context of the times for the soft powerenhancing strategies of our country, and communication of core value of Chinesecivilization through the foreigners, so that China’s international status can be enhanced,and China has ability to obligations and responsibility in global affairs.It became an inevitable trend to put forward the proposition of culture teaching inTCFL. Since the academia of TCFL recognized the importance of culture teaching toTCFL, a lot of exploratory research was made, and teachers also made attempt to teachculture in practice, and they value to integrate culture factors into Chinese teaching inboth teaching material compilation and classroom instruction. The academia agreed thatculture teaching aims at eliminating of cross-language communication disorders causedby cultural differences, and improving intercultural communication competence,cultural perception and understanding ability of second language learners as assistinglanguage teaching.This thesis takes culture teaching in TCFL as the research object, analyzes, extractsand summarizes the theoretical research achievements at home and abroad, and thendiscusses deep problems of culture teaching in TCFL from a theoretical and practicallevel. It tries to put forward a series of targeted countermeasures and suggestions forculture teaching in TCFL on the basis of what mentioned before. In the aboveframework of this study, this thesis adopts qualitative research methods includingliterature review, practical application, and comparative study. Theories and methodssuch as cognitive linguistics, theory of communicative culture, systemic-functionallinguistics, intercultural communication principles, and cross-cultural migration theoryare applied in the research. It explores countermeasures and suggestions for cultureteaching in TCFL with theoretical foundation and general value.In conclusion, language teaching and culture teaching have internal relationship.There should be close cooperation in teaching for them. Culture teaching should assistlanguage teaching, and aims at improving intercultural communication competence. Culture teaching prompts formation of Chinese thinking ability of the learners, andenhances cultural perception and understanding ability by revealing the culturalconnotation behind the language during culture teaching. The gradual integrationbetween language teaching and culture teaching will promote the development of TCFLcome into mature through the ongoing efforts in the field of theory and practice.
