In the middle of Ming Dynasty,there is an inscription scholar named Lu Shenin Songjiang area. He learned calligraphy from Li Beihai with grace style and itseems like silky running water. In the late Ming dynasty, He Sanwei evaluated LuShen’s calligraphy that his regular script, cursive script and running script just likethe wire lacerating comparable to Li Beihai to be a famous calligrapher. When theWu Men faction prevalences, Lu Shen’s calligraphy set up a new banner and hadmade a great difference on the formation of the Yun Jian faction.This essay will descript Lu Shen’s birth background,officialdom, literature andcharacter, and at the same time to interpretate his calligraphy. Then we will revealhis view of passing on the ancient culture without adding anything new to it thoughthe work of Shu Ji. Last, we will discuss the origin of his view of the calligraphy. Onthe basis, the key is to card the artistic characteristics of his calligraphy. This is thecore part of the assay. In the end, we will put forward the influence of Lu Shen’scalligraphy to Yun Jian faction.Lu Shen’s learned regular script from Yan Shangshu and running script form LiBeihai. His view and practice of calligraphy made a great difference on the middle ofMing Dynasty when every calligrapher learned calligraphy from Song Dynasty andthe era they lived. Taking this, Lu Shen and Mo Ruzhong became the forerunner ofthe Yun Jian faction, and promoted this faction that represented by Mo Shilong,Dong Qichang and Chen Jiru.
