As China’s international status is in the rapid ascension, thus there comes out ainternational learning Chinese boom, and as a result,the curriculum of teaching Chinese asa foreign language then drawn people’s review and thinking.Language is the carrier ofculture, to learn a language better,one still has to know the culture behind it.And asEnglish has become the international language, the western culture which it represents hasalso been widely spread and identified, therefore, to really do well the work of Chineseteaching, it is indispensable to teach the essence of Chinese culture.And in the process oflearning culture, learners will inevitably meet the collisions and conflicts produced by hisoriginal native culture and Chinese culture, so how to use the cultural difference topromote the spread of Chinese culture is very necessary.Because the English culture isrepresentative, so here the author took the Chinese culture and western culture intocontrast, which is not only practical, but also demonstrative, and learners also can drawlessons from this method a lot.So the subject of Chinese and western culture contrast notonly has value in theory,but also has more realistic significance.This paper, analyses the differences between Chinese and western culture from fouraspects, which are the national culture and regional culture, custom culture and religiousculture. And then discussed how to take advantage of these differences to get betterunderstanding of the Chinese culture. This paper can be divided into six chapters.1. Introduction. Mainly summarized the relevant research results, the implications of theresearch, the content and the theoretical basis.2. The national cultural differences between Chinese and western culture. It can bedivided into the material and spirit aspects.3. The regional cultural differences. Analysis from three aspects of the relationshipbetween man and nature and architectural and numbers. 4. The custom cultural differences. Analysis from the aspects of communicativelanguages and conventional values and also social customs etiquette.5. The religious cultural differences. Analysis from the aspects of religious connotationand the relationship between religion and politics.6. How to use the differences between Chinese and western culture contrast to betterpromote teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
