The characteristics of graphics such as visuality and imageability play an importantrole in the process of information dissemination. With the arrival of Picture Time, thedesigners need to adopt more efficient approachs to design graphics. This thesis analyzedthe visual perception understanding by studying the ways of people watching graphics andtried to find the corresponding methods of graphic design. The methods could make thegraphics more appropriate to people’s viewing habits and achieve better results in theprocess of graphics’ information dissemination. This thesis also summarized the principlesof graphic design based on the visual perception understanding, and described severalspecific methods.The research methods of this thesis was based on the results of domestic and overseas,and by using data collection, successful case analysis, questionnaires and other researchmethods, we analyzed the way how graphics working for the audience, then tried toprovide some suggestions to designers on how to collect, organize, and filter images, andhow to coordinate the combination and structure of graphics. Key is to find the moreefficient ways of graphic design by combining the visual thinking theory with graphicdesign methods.The purpose of this thesis is to research the methods of graphic design which iscorrespond to visual perception understanding. The results are based on the theory ofvisual perception understanding, which are had a certain practical significance to graphicdesign and related professionals, and also important to graphic design education.The thesis is divided into the following parts:(1) describing the definition, history,and functions of the graphics, and discussing its close link with nowadays life;(2)elucidating the production environment and practical value of visual thinking theory, andexpounding two elements relevant to graphic design: the thinking ability of visualperception and the great function of image;(3) introducing the process of people’s viewingpictures which is composed of watching and understanding, and also analyzing thelegibility of graphics, and trying to find the methods of graphics design based on thesefindings;(4) presenting the specific process of graphic design based on the theory of visualperception understanding;(5)taking the case of Vara company’s graphic design as an example to practice the research results of the above.
