The beginning of the MacIntyre’s thinking is the reflection on Western modernmoral philosophy. MacIntyre also insisted on evaluating the history of Western moralphilosophy, a variety of moral beliefs, practices and concepts, but in the face of therise and fall of a variety of moral issues, he relied on a unique historical stance. Onone hand, MacIntyre completed a historical argument which is judging the history ofmodern moral from Enlightenment as a kind of moral disaster.On the other hand, hefirmly believe that he can go through the predicament of proving the modern moralreasonable justification by the historical narrative of modern moral disaster, to resolvethe conflicting among many “isms” in the contemporary. In MacIntyre’sconsideration, the fundamental code of modern ethics is under suspecting, the basicreason is non-history and a rational planning from enlightenment. In a rational notion,there are no constructive relationship between non-historical of humanity concept andethics, in the contrary, it is a fatal hit to rational moral tradition. Thus, the only way toovercome the modern moral dilemma is a reviewing the modern moral mode ofenlightenment at first, and then tracing the history of rational moral tradition.In addition, the purposes of this thesis are as following: Discussing themethodology which MacIntyre insisted; Combing MacIntyre on the basement ofhistoricism stance on the narrative of the modern history of moral thought; NarratingWestern modern moral tradition to get a further interpretation of his historicalposition through analyzing the unique properties of MacIntye’s historical stance. AndMacIntye’s historical narrative model as a methodological historicism stance forrecounting purpose of the virtues of the traditional mode, which beyond thepossibility of modern moral model.
