| Multimedia and other modern means of teaching have already been quite mature inChinese teaching. However, multimedia teaching appears to be scanty in the Chinese classroomof Philippines. With the development of modern education, the demand for it in the Chineseclassroom of Philippines is on the rise. Therefore it becomes more and more important to achievethe modernization of network teaching of Chinese language in Philippines.My colleagues and I have tried to launch the multimedia teaching approach in Chinese classwhen we were teaching as Chinese volunteer teachers in Misamis Union High School inPhilippines. Based on this attempt,it is respectively discussed in the paper about the usage oftraditional and multimedia teaching methods in the following aspects: vocabulary teaching,sentence and grammar teaching, text teaching, classroom activities and management, and so on,.On the basis of method of questionnaire investigation and interview, combined with theteaching practice, it is discussed in the paper about the teaching effectiveness of multimediateaching method in Chinese classroom in Philippines.1. Storing more information, saving timein writing, improving classroom efficiency.2. Vivid, intuitive, situational contents are inaccordance with local students’feature of image thinking.3. Closely connecting language pointsin teaching, varying forms of practicing, and providing a strong interaction atmosphere.4.Contributing to expanding of cultural knowledge, the development of classroom activities andmanagement.5. Compensating the difference of Teachers’levels and insufficiency of textbooks,helping to save teaching achievements and to share the excellent courseware resources.After the discussion of advantages and disadvantages of multimedia teaching method, thelast chapter puts forward corresponding strategies.1.A moderate, simple and intuitive knowledgecapacity.2.Reasonable layout, a blend of functions and effects.3.A student-centered coursewaredesign with strong interaction which makes students relaxed.4. Improvement of the teachingability by means of multimedia.5.Clever utility of functions and features of multimediaequipment, and improvement of the current management of Chinese classroom.6.Improvementof hardware facilities of multimedia, assurance of the normal multimedia teaching.7.Combination of multimedia teaching method with teacher’s supervision and blackboard writing. |
