This research is mainly about the teaching of Chinese modern literature lesson in the majorof Chinese language for foreign students. It takes a review in the history of curriculum designfor Chinese modern literature and demonstrates that as one part of the major construction ofChinese language for foreign students the construction for Chinese modern literature lesson isstill immature, of which further studying and discussion are needed in the textbookcompilation and teaching methods.The paper basing on the analysis in the present of textbook compilation for Chinesemodern literature for foreign students in China, this study takes the lesson “Guide to ChineseModern Literature” as the object and analyses the feathers of the lesson, style of textbookcompilation as well as its advantages compared with other similar lessons. As per theteaching aims of the lesson and the theory of action oriented teaching method, this studyillustrates the necessity for the application of action oriented teaching methods in the lessonof “Guide to Chinese Modern Literature”, as well as the principles and requirements topractice action oriented teaching method. This paper consists four parts: history of curriculumdesign for Chinese modern literature, instruction of action oriented teaching method, study ofteaching material and lesson plan design.The core of this study is to fulfill the lesson plan design for “Guide to Chinese ModernLiterature” in compliance with the theory of action oriented teaching method, with the effortsto demonstrate in the lesson plan design how action oriented teaching method would beapplied during the specific process of teaching and studying activities. Superiorities andadvantages of the application of action oriented teaching method in the lesson of “Guide toChinese Modern Literature” are illustrated as well. Advices to improve the teaching of“Guide to Chinese Modern Literature” are provided basing on action oriented teaching theory,which can be a meaningful reference for the construction of the teaching for the lesson.
