In the field of teaching Chinese as foreign language, the research ofexercise design in textbooks is very limited. This paper attempts tocompare and analyse exercises of two Chinese textbook in terms of thehistory of American and Chinese teaching, the design of two set oftextbook, exercise quantity, goal of the exercise design, exercisecontent and exercise pattern, trying to find out the similarities anddifferences between the two sets of Chinese textbook, and hoped thatthrough this paper, more attention might be aroused to the research ofChinese language textbook exercise, it is also hoped that somesuggestions might be thus given to the compilation of the exercises ofChinese textbook.
