Networks develop quickly and every part of society affects and is also affected bythem. It has had a unique influence on language and over time a new language form hasemerged. Like social development, the development of language is continuous andlanguage is a mirror reflection of social development. Network language is the product ofsocial development and it is also the source of network literature. The network novel is anew type of network literature.At the moment, Chinese and Korean network novels enjoy a place of dominance innetwork literature. The developing background of network novels is similar because of theinfluence of the internet, the network novel has taken form because anyone is free toshowcase their writing skills and to attract the readers’ attention they frequently use richand colorful language. A unique style of sentences and vocabulary are also common intheir novels.In the course of language development, vocabulary is the most important factor andthe study of vocabulary does not only facilitate the understanding of the evolution of alanguage but it also reveals the social situation.This thesis is a study in the development and the evolution of the network languageas used in Korean and Chinese network novels. It is divided into the following sections:First is a definition of the concept of network novel language, and summarizedfeatures of network novel language.Secondly, network novel language vocabulary is classified into seven groups:abbreviations, vocabulary semantics, homophonic words, foreign words type,onomatopoeic words, foul language, punctuation and emotional symbol type.Afterwards, using methods of analysis and comparison, similarities and differencesare discussed as are prospects for the future of the network novel.Currently, both Chinese and Korean scholars are concerned about network languageand network novel language has become a promising research field. With the study andanalysis of network novel language, people can appreciate the trend of the language andgo a step further to promote its standardization and usage.
