When the learners have acquired a certain reading ability and reached a high reading level, media reading becomes the maximum demand for their study and improving their Chinese level, and it is the best way as well.During the past decades, the traditional media reading in principle has equaled newspaper reading; in the meanwhile there are lots of problems in the practical reading. In this thesis, detailed analysis is done form various aspects by means of surveying the teaching present condition of media reading including newspaper reading, thus defining the media reading class, setting the teaching goals, as well as determining the content and the range of the material-selecting. On this basis, instructional design is made in details, including teaching materials and teaching strategies etc, hoping to provide reference for the practical teaching of media reading.This thesis is composed of four chapters. The first one mainly aims at the meaning and purpose of this study, and also introduces the review of foreign Chinese teaching on reading class, newspaper reading class and instructional design. In the end of this chapter, contents and methods of this study are stated.Chapter II is about prophase investigation for the instructional design of media reading class. The author made a questionnaire survey on part of foreign students on advanced level, who are from Shandong University and Shandong Normal University. The author made this survey in the following aspects:the basic information of the students, the cognition of media reading, the evaluation of media reading class and their suggestions, and finally drew a conclusion.Chapter III is an overall design of media reading class. In the first place, the author defines the nature of the curriculum and teaching object, making culture the key point of teaching goals. Secondly, the comparison is made to find the advantages and disadvantages between fixed teaching material and temporary teaching material, and as a consequence, the latter is determined as the practical teaching material. On the basis of combining the results of investigation and the learners’interests,15topics are selected as the teaching contents. Then the author summarizes the range of the material-selecting, as well as the specific standard and method.In the fourth chapter, one example of instructional design is set on the topic of traveling from the aspects of the analysis of teaching materials and teaching objects, teaching arrangements, teaching goals, teaching contents, the important and difficult points, and concrete teaching process as well.Conclusion summarizes the full text and looks up the deficiencies and the further study.
