Tibetan is the native language that is commonly used by people in the Tibetan areas. Tibetan is divided into three major dialect areas:Amdo, Kang. Wei zang. Tibetan areas arc relatively backward in economy, and underdeveloped in culture, hence leading to a low starting point of English pronunciation; most students are in lack of learning motivation of English pronunciation, who often gives rise to psychological fear including Amdo dialect. Through experimental analysis, Tibetan Amdo dialect plays a role of interference and obstruction in the acquisition of English vowels and consonants for college students in this area. This paper probes into the special group of Tibetan students, by means of many methods, such as comparative analysis, questionnaires, subjective evaluation and experimental phonetics in order to find difficult and focal points in learning English vowels and consonants, then design suitable teaching methods. According to the principle of teachers and students cooperation, the paper aims to foster the ability of the students’autonomous learning, and teaching methods include two modules of classroom teaching and after-class teaching, In class, the author develops a specific pronunciation training method for difficult phonemes, including standard pronunciation lip-diagram, and English phonetics is taught after class by Praat software. These teaching methods in this research are expected to provide certain references to learn English pronunciation for college students in Tibetan Amdo dialect areas...
