The most moving part in Zhang Zao’s work is it’s waking up of the classical beauty that has almost disappeared and a rare interest in modern life. This article is starting from the aesthetic enjoyment that Zhang Zao’s poetry brings to people, and will study the artistic characteristics in Zhang Zao’s modern lyric poetry to analyze the most prominent aesthetic qualities in his poetry-the "light" and "sweet". These two aesthetic qualities emerge not only in the form of his poetry’s text, but also within his work’s implication. They’re the majority of readers’favorite feelings when enjoying Zhang Zao’s work as well. Therefore, this article will firstly study Zhang Zao’s poetry from a synchronic angle, mainly in these three aspects of poetry’s form-imagery, language, and rhythm-to recover the aesthetic temperament in Zhang Zao’s poetry. At the same time, the article will deeply reveal an important mechanism in the forming of his poetry’s aesthetic temperament-the dialogue. Finally, the article restarts from a diachronic perspective, and coming to this conclusion by contrasting the style of Zhang Zao’s poetry in different periods:although his later work’s style is more complicated, but these two "light" and "sweet" aesthetic temperament is always throughout Zhang Zao’s poems. In the course of the study, the author also found that the highlights of these two aesthetic qualities are closely linked with the poet’s life experience, his theory of poetics and philosophical thinking. They are the active choice of the poet.
