In the past years, the relationship between China and Mongolia has been moreand more intimate, and trade has been also increasingly frequent. Therefore, inMongolia, a growing number of people have taken an interest in learning Chinese,which caused more and more Chinese school coming into existence. I was honored toteach Chinese in Mongolia in2011. In this paper, some experience on zero-basisteaching was summarized based on my nearly-a-year teaching experience in Mongoliaas well as thinking and exploring. Chinese teaching of primary and secondary schoolin Ulan Bator was summarized and the teaching of Hope Chinese School where Itaught Chinese was introduced in detail, leaving the readers with a comprehensive andintuitive impression on the Chinese teaching of primary and secondary school in UlanBator. According to the actual situations of teaching requirements, the discrepancy ofteaching materials and lack of teaching aids in school I taught, how to carry out thezero-basis Chinese comprehensive teaching was discussed in great details. From myactual teaching, several teaching methods were particularized from the aspects ofspeech sounds, Chinese characters, vocabulary, text and emotion. Besides, practiceand innovation were emphasized to make the students show great interest in Chineselearning and achieve gratifying results during one academic year. Hope this papercould provide reference for zero-basis teaching during teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage and helpful for Chinese teachers to teach in Mongolia.
