There was120sections in Han shu bu zhu. It was written by Wang, and regarded as oneof the important works of Wang. Han shu bu zhu was a successful work that come allannotations together after Yan shigu’s note.Wang Xianqian’s Han shu bu zhu collected67annotations before Tang Dynasty andmore than40annotations after Tang Dynasty. It took the related document annotations of Shiji,Hanshu, Suoyin and so on. It also widely cited all said which was right and discards thewrong said. It was the most overall summary from ancient times to the present. This book alsohad a lot of Wang Xianqian’s personal creative, which recognized by the later scholars. If wewanted to understand the Hanshu, Han shu bu zhu was the indispensable tool, and providedrich material for the scholars to know the political, economy, culture, and other aspects in QinDynasty. Wang Xianqian recharged this annotation style into full play. Therefore, Han shu buzhu had great influence in the field of Qing Dynasty’s exegetics, philology etc.Based on Yan Shigu’s Han shu zhu, Han shu bu zhu inherited a lot of Yan Shigu’smethods and the contents, including character, phonology, word meaning and grammar. Itsuppled and corrected Yan’s note deficiencies, and chose a lot of document such as Shiji,Hanshu to do research, and Wang Xianqian added some personal opinions to make the note ofHanshu more detailed. Wang Xianqian made up the unknown what predecessor do, andmarked Yan’s note which quotes the source. He also connected each rivers record in the bookof Shui Jingzhu with corresponding counties. Of course, due to times limitations and Wang’spersonal reasons, Han shu bu zhu had many shortcomings, but overall, Wang Xianqian’sresearch achievements in Han shu bu zhu was far greater than the lackages.In a word, Han shu bu zhu was the best and the most comprehensive note in the field ofHanshu research，and is a worthy of attention and in-depth study.
