Emotion is not only created by intuitive experience, but also is aroused by memories inthe past. In a dynamically changing enviroment, and facing the situation of frequentlyreplacement of product people are adapting with faster paces and pursuing comfort frommemories, which has become a common social sense. In order to deal with this phenomenon,there were a start of new trends in design field, however, researchers suspect the possibilitiesof sustainability of this stream. In this paper, I explore the indication of emotional memory indesign field.Emotional memory is a theory in the field of psychology of memory. By combining thesituation in China, we re-frame the idea of emotional memory in design field. Emotionalmemory stores in daily things and scenarios which awaken old experience and memories.This paper elaborates the components of emotional memory: instant input, storage, andawakeness. In terms of product design, I discuss the method of emotional memory: cluesawaking emotional memory, product characters, linguistic tips, behavior pattern, sensoryinformation, and scenario building. Through the analysis of several case studies, Isystematically demonstrate the influence of emotional memory in terms of cognation,behavior and reflection.In the fourth section, we talk about the research method, process, and case studies.During this research, we explore the method of emotional memory in design field and theindication of emotional memories in product design, interaction design, and user experiencedesign fields.
