Task-based Language Teaching TBLT is a relatively new concept in China although ithas been widely spread abroad for more than twenty years. It basically reflects the latestunderstanding of foreign language education. Intensive Reading English Course is one withthe purpose of developing and improving the students’ comprehensive abilities to use English.However, many teachers cling to the traditional teaching model in the modern environment,where the teachers just deliver their monologues and the students are like robots. The classeslack of interactions between students and teachers, also between students and students.But, if we adopt a new model of interactive teaching in the Network and Multi-mediaclassroom, shifting the focus from the teacher-centered model to a more individualized andcorporative student-centered teaching model in this new environment, students will be moreabsorbed in Intensive Reading Course by utilizing their initiatives and resources from theNetwork. Thus the teaching efficiency will be greatly improved. In the experiment, studentsof two English major classed are involved, who come from a university in Liaoning Province.With the help of statistical software spss13.0, the gathered data from tests and questionnairesare analyzed and the results are obtained in the qualitative and quantitative ways.This thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter One is the introduction. This part expounds the problem, aims of the study andthe structure of the thesis.Chapter Two is the literature review and theoretical framework. It is about thebackground of the TBLT, the process of its development, its features and current researchsituations and developing trends in the new language learning environment.Chapter Three is the research methodology which includes the research question, researchsubjects, the research instruments involved, procedure of the experiment and data collection.Chapter Four is about the data analysis and discussions. The data collected from the testand the questionnaires are analyzed in details. According to the analysis, findings are reachedin this part.Chapter Five is the conclusion. It concludes the thesis by stating the major findings,strengthening the significance of combining TBLT with network and multimedia environment.It also presents the limitation of the study and suggestions for the future research.
