That is tosay, there will be a historical turning point in this aspect during the period of12thfive-year-plan and more than half of Chinese population will settle down in urban areas.” Theurbanization development in China in the last few years was very rapid, which has broughtabout several problems. The infrastructure in some cities, including the guidance system ofpublic information, did not keep up with the pace of the overdevelopment of urbanizntion. This paper focuses on the seven types of city images’ orientation from the perspective ofguidance system of public information, concerning the analysis of geographical position, traffic, economic type, staffing, culture industry, environment, and service system and so on.The paper discusses the relationship between city image’s orientation and guidance system ofpublic information, establishes the different requirements for the latter caused by the differentsorts of orientations, and then summarizes a design alternative of the guidance system that canreveal a city’s image.
