Prospective memory refers to completing some activities and events at a specific time inthe future. It is a hot issue in the field of study after the retrospective memory. There are manyfactors that affect prospective memory tasks’ performance completed, such as,the prospectivememory task’s own characteristics, characteristics of ongoing tasks and the state of individualwill have an effect on prospective memory to a certain extent. My experiments will study the effects of target cues position on event-based prospectivememory. Experiment1uses a single factor (the position of target cues: preexposure, normal, delay) between-subjects design, examining the effects of advance and delay of target cues onprospective memory. Experiment2uses two factors2(focal level: focal, unfocal)×3(positionof target cues: preexposure, normal, delay) between-subjects design, examining effects ofcues position on prospective memory when the prospective memory tasks take differentcognitive resourses. The following are conclusions of my experiment.(1) There are significant differences between the level of prospective memory of normalpresentation and preexposure of target cues, and the scores of prospective memory of targetcues presention in advance are better than the normal one.(2) There are significant differences between the level of prospective memory of normalpresentation and delay of target cues, and the scores of prospective memory of delay of targetcues are better than the normal one.(3) Different cognitive resources which prospective memory need can affect prospectivememory significantly, and the scores of focal target cues is significantly higher than the scoresof the unfocal one.
