An Analysis Of Present Situation Investigation Of Chinese Teaching In Thai City Of Suratthani

In recent years, Chinese teaching in Thailand has been rapidlydeveloped, many levels of Thai schools have started the Chinese languagecourse, lots of studies have been done on the Chinese teaching. However,among all these studies, most are about Chinese teaching situation in aspecific school, quite few are about Chinese teaching situation in an area,especially the study on suratthani city. The present paper is a study onthe Chinese teaching in suratthani city. In the form of questionnairesand visits, author investigated and summarized the problems existing inthe development of Chinese language teaching in suratthani region.Combined with the survey data and the experience of the author duringthe teaching at Thailand, some suggestions have been put forward for thedevelopment of Chinese teaching in suratthani.This article firstly introduces the basic situation of Chinesecourses carried out in suratthani’ schools, including the number ofstudents in school who learn Chinese, faculty, teaching books, Chineseevaluation standards, etc. Then detailed shows data which the author gotthrough questionnaire and visiting to local schools. Based On the data,the author summarized several problems in the development of Chineseteaching in surat thani: Local Chinese teaching doesn’t have a system;Teaching materials don’t adapt to the local characteristics; Educationdepartment doesn’t take Chinese teaching seriously enough; The schoolis lack of regulation for Chinese teaching; Expecting too much fromChinese teaching so that the Chinese teaching arrangement is away fromthe actual situation.
