Teaching Chinese as a foreign language is to cultivate thestudents’ practical ability ofcommunication in Chinese. Thereare different kinds of courses related tolistening, speaking,reading and writing.Among them, the listening class isalwaysmixed with reading and writing.The students in listening classwill read listening materials after listening, and write afterreading, so listening course plays a crucial role in trainingthe students’practical application of Chinese.Among the numerous listening courses, Chinese newslistening course, with television, radio, newspapers and othernews media content for teaching materials, via the multimediateaching mode, training students’ listening ability to readChinese news program, is very welcomed and loved by foreignstudents.For foreign students,the aim of learning Chinese news isnot to devote themselves to Chinese news career in the future,orjust learn the pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar ofChinese, but to understand Chinabetter, and assimilate to the society of China, and to formsome kind ofability tocommunication in Chinese in practice.To some extent, if aforeigner passes the HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), it onlymeans he can communicate with others in Chinese.Only when hecan read, understand the Chinese press, it really means he canunderstand and assimilate Chinese culture and Chinese society.Although Chinese news listening plays an irreplaceable role,it also faces many problems from aspects of textbooks, thepreparation of the course for teachers, and class hour.As totextbooks, the writer proposes the full preparationprinciple, which means teachers should abandon old textbooksand take real-time news from the broadcast and TV to updateteaching materials of listening course.The writer proposes theinterest principle of choosing materials for textbooks, makingthe interest as the guidance of classroom teaching. For thedifficulty of textbooks, the writer proposes appropriateprinciple, which means teachers should choose proper listeningmaterials for students no matter in difficulty level or length.Lastly, as to the course preparation and course period, thewriter proposes technology application principle, encouraging teachers to take full use of kinds of computer softwares toincrease teaching efficiency. The writer also proposesteaching the methods oflistening with reading and asking withlistening. The writerstudies from the linguistic features ofChinese news, analysesthe discourse structure, title, lead andother characteristics of Chinese News, designs teachingstrategies, and provides teaching plans according to theteaching principles, methods and strategies, hopingthat thispaper will be helpful to Chinese news listening teaching in thefuture.
