As an important part of fine arts academy's education system, Design Basic Education concerns the quality of growing up design talents. In recent years, various factors made the fine arts academy's basic education oversimplified and become utilitarianism, which strongly damage the development of fine art's higher education. Besides outside factors, the fine arts academy should be responsible for some inevitable problems also. Under the background of high school's reformation and global culture's melting, they are confronted with new challenges and new opportunities while growing up design talents. Therefore the arts academy should pay attention to its own problems and overcome them while asking for a better external environment, so as to play a decent role in this globalization world. This paper analyses the present problems in design basic education, then raise a new concept "Feature Big Basic". The author proved the necessity and feasibility of adopting this new concept in design major's basic education finally.
