The Comparative Study Of "Longmen Four Product" And "Zheng Wengong Tablet" And The Unity Of Aesthetic Study Of Calligraphic Style In Northern Wei Dynasty

Weibei (tablet inscriptions of the Northern Dynasty) is a kind ofnew chirography during the Northern and Southern Dynasties in thehistory of our country. It mainly spreads in generations with theform of stone inscription. Among them, inscriptions on cliff,inscriptions on the memorial tablet, stone tablet and statues is thestaple. Because the Northern Wei Dynasty’s regime (established byXianbei Tuobashi of the Northern Dynasty) is strong, its noble has ahigh degree of Chinesization, the cultural undertakings is relativelyprosperous, it also has brought the big development of calligraphy,and left many excellent stone inscriptions of Weibei. Theseexcellent calligraphy works have wonderful technique, marvelousstructure, imposing manner, great change and high artistic value,which is worthy of the treasure in calligraphy art treasure house ofour country. Further research of them also has great significancefor the whole Northern Dynasty, especially culture development ofthe Northern Wei Dynasty, calligraphy aesthetic achievement ofWeibei.This article is to do a comparison study on calligraphyrepresentative works of Weibei:“Longmen Four Works” and “Zheng Wengong’s Tablet”. They respectively belong to Longmen statueswhich are known as “model of upright and foursquare characterpattern”, and Yunfeng stone inscriptions which are known as“model of mellow and full character pattern”. They both have veryhigh aesthetic value and representative in the calligraphy art.Through doing analysis, comparison and summary of their styles,structures and overall imposing manners, we can clearly see theirrespective art backgrounds, writing features, wording methods, andtheir special art aesthetic characteristics caused by these factors.By means of discussing their recognition and find for generations,especially the aesthetic exploration and shaping of calligraphersand calligraphy theorist on stone inscription study in the QingDynasty, fully explored their aesthetic prevailing custom in order tofacilitate us for better learning and studying them.
