This is a translation project report of Translation as a Profession by DanielGouadec, of which Chapter8is the source text. The source text discusses the issue oftranslation time and money which is closely related to translators’ interests. It aims toguide imperfect Chinese translation market by studying western advanced knowledgeof translation. The main contents of this report are divided into four parts: Part One isthe translation project description, including project background, objectives,significance and structure. Part Two is the background of the source text, includingthe author introduction, the source text introduction, and evaluation and review of thesource text. Part Three is about translation difficulties, methods as well as someapproaches, which include methods of division and combination, amplification andomission and transformation. Part Four concludes with the lessons, implication andunsolved problems in the translation project.
