This thesis studies the sound change of function words in Changyi dialect of Shandong province. The author discusses its forms, properties, causes, change progress and consequence。This thesis is divided into four chapters. The exordium introduces the general reason for which author writes the article, the value of this topic selection, the mature theory of sound change and achievements of the study on sound change of function words in Chinese language. The second chapter introduces the contents, methods, area of this research, and chiefly introduces the conditions of Changyi dialect. The third chapter divides the function words into four types:"comitative, adverb(1), adverb(2), demonstrative pronoun". As In every type, there are detailed description of sound change. The four chapter analyses this phenomenon, mainly discuses its phonetic and functional properties,restrictive factors, phonetic echanisms,possible trends and finally consequncies.This article claims that this phenomenon in Changyi dialect is a kind of sound change influenced by the semantic and pragmatic factors. Its phonetic mechanisms is the stress of rhythm. The change presents variation in different areas and groups. This kind of sound change may lead to unregular sound change of the function words.
