This report is based on the author’s experience of interpreting for the project of Shandong Provincial Cultural and Art Center from September2012up till now. It consists of three parts:project introduction and task description, process description, client feedback and interpreter’s reflections.The first chapter gives a brief description of the interpreting project and introduces the client and the direct users of the interpreting service as well as Shandong University interpreting team.The second chapter is process description. It provides a brief description of the interpreting process and three scenarios of the interpreter’s work in which he reported how he analyzed different situations and applied his subjectivity into the practice of interpreting so as to guarantee the communication to go smoothly, especially when it was influenced by unnecessary negative emotions. The author also shared his experience and lessons he drew from his work.The third chapter reports the client feedback as well as the interpreter’s reflections on his interpreting, in which he thinks highly of interpreting preparation, teamwork, and project management. He also discussed the difference between interpreting competence and interpreters’competence, pointing out that the latter is far more important than the former. In addition, the author also analyzed his weakness and ways for improvement.In Conclusion, the report points out that in similar interpreting projects, it is advisable for interpreters to apply their subjectivity according to different situations, and attach great importance to interpreting preparation and teamwork, etc. The author also stressed the importance of interpreters’competence. |
