The Psychology Of Science:A New Direction For Philosophy Of Science

Science studies are the general viewpoints about science, it brought together a variety of efforts to understand the scientific, including philosophy, history, psychology, anthropology, social etc. Philosophy of science has its own history. On the philosophy of science systematically from the Vienna School of30’s last century. Since then, Philosophy of science has experienced successful and full of twists’evolution for80years. Ultimately form the three dimensions of the view of Science, Namely:the scientific view of logical positivism dimension, the scientific view of historicism dimension and the scientific view of social positivism dimension. The traditional view of science of science has to understand the science and scientific activities, each dimension of research represents a different approach to science. These dimensions and approach carry forward understanding science to a new step, but science is a complex cognitive activity, the mere understanding is far from fully understanding of Science. Based on a full analysis of strengths and limitations of traditional research path and standing on the naturalism epistemology position, this paper is aimed at clearing the relationship between poor inputs and surging outputs by regarding the philosophy of science as one chapter of the natural science research. The Psychology of Science see science as a high-level cognitive activities, advocate to use psychology approach to research science and scientific thoughts. It’s approach to the study of science is varied. Including cognitive, biological, development, and personality. In addition, The Psychology of Science is not to deny that science has social, historical dimension, it is thought that science is essentially a kind of cognitive activity, therefore, should take the social, historical, psychological dimensions together. The psychology of science provides a link for us to connect logical positivism dimension, historical dimension and social dimension. Through the organic combination of the three aspects, The psychology of science provides a more complete and full image of science for us, The science studies should form the psychology of science as the core of the multidisciplinary collection pattern, The psychology of science will become a new direction of philosophy of Science. However, unfortunately, the psychology of science did not like the history of science, philosophy of science and sociology of science that developed and has been institutionalized, the development of the psychology of science is still in the development phase of the establishment.
