During South Song and North Song dynasties, there appeared numerous influential pastoral Ci poetries which, as a form of lyrics set to fixed tunes, depicted the beauty of countryside scenery and idyllic life as well as revealed the rich cultural ambience. This dissertation conducts a research on the above pastoral poetry from the moral and aesthetic perspectives via the method of "understanding the writers and their times", which combines analysis of their works with their living times, social backgrounds and reasons for writing. It is expected to make some contribution to Ci poetry research and restore to the original history and literature by means of this research.The first chapter mainly discusses the embodiment of moral concept displayed in pastoral poetry during the two Song dynasties. It carries out an introduction and inspection on pastoral Ci poetry from the two aspects, emphasis on relational ethics, together with moral advocate and self-cultivation.The second chapter studies the embodiment of aesthetical concept in pastoral poetry during the two Song dynasties. It does research on the pastoral poetry from the following seven perspectives, flowers and plants, birds, fish and animals, lute-playing, chess, calligraphy and painting, studies and teaching rooms, Buddhism spiritual self-redemption and Taoism spiritual self-redemption.The third chapter makes an analysis of a typical case of pastoral poetry during the two Song dynasties, Gui Qu Lai Xi, through which this paper tries to find the common artistic characteristics and spiritual pursuit of the poets.The forth chapter presents the basic situation of Cheng Ju’s writings, highlighting his description of the countryside scenery and idyllic life.The fifth chapter explores the basic situation of Zhou Zizhi’s writings, concentrating on his description of the countryside scenery and idyllic life.The sixth chapter deals with the basic situation of Wang Shipeng’s writings, concerning with his description of the countryside scenery and idyllic life.
