In recent years, studies about creativity increases year by year. The contents becomespecific and elaborate. How to improve creativity of individual and how to transform thisability into productivity is now what researchers are interested. Last century, creativetechniques were born. Then different creative techniques are applied in many differentfields and draw much public attention. How to choose a right creative technique method indifferent situations and how to develop its’ effect most is our focus. This research focus ona specific creative technical: compulsory association method, discussing its influence onChinese university students. The research use some university students as subjects, takingtwo experiments that are all related to compulsory association method.The first experiment aims to check that compulsory association method can influencecreativity in different dimensions. This experiment use between-subjects design, aimed toverify the effectiveness of compulsory association method in idea generation task andproblem solving task.The second experiment discusses the influence factors of compulsory associationmethod. The Second experiment used three factors and between-subjects design, whichexplored the impact of external motivation, time pressure and difficulty on the output ofcreative thinking when using compulsory association method in creative thinking activities.There are three dependent variables: originality, flexibility and fluency.The conclusions were as follows:1. Compulsory association method can promote the output of idea generation tasksignificantly while promote the output of problem solving task less.2. When using compulsory association method, motivation, time pressure anddifficulty all can influence the output of idea generation task significantly.3. Time pressure can significantly influence originality, flexibility and fluency of idea generation task. Motivation can influence originality, flexibility of idea generation task.Difficulty can influence fluency of idea generation task. Time pressure and motivationhave interaction mode on originality and fluency. Motivation, time pressure and difficultyall have interaction mode on originality and fluency.
