Language is the carrier and media of the ethnic culture. Vocabulary is the most active element in language system, and its national characteristics are closely linked to culture’s. The centuries-old history, the national psychology and aesthetic thought and thinking mode are all reflected in Chinese vocabulary. Vocabulary is the foundation of the second language learning, which is learnt throughout the second language teaching. Therefore, vocabulary teaching is important in Teaching of Chinese as a Second Language. Because of the factors in vocabulary, for the foreign Chinese learners, the vocabulary in the mother language is not all corresponding to Chinese vocabulary, which influent their learning directly. On account of this cause, thorough the literature research method, descriptive method and experience conclusion method, the paper aims at studying the Chinese cultural influence on vocabulary and the teaching of cultural factors in vocabulary.The main body of this paper includes four chapters. The first chapter analyzes the importance of cultural teaching in the second language teaching. Language has a close relationship with culture. The influences of Chinese culture on Chinese make culture teaching significant. The second chapter explains the necessity of teaching of cultural factors in vocabulary. Because of the differences in conceptual meaning, associative meaning and corresponding vocabulary vacancy, teaching of the cultural factors in vocabulary is important. The third chapter presents the teaching principles of cultural factors’ teaching. Cultural factors’teaching must be representative and advanced with times, else, teacher should use specific teaching methods on account of students’practical situation. The fourth chapter presents the specific teaching methods of cultural factors in different lesson types. Under the influence of Chinese culture, in Oral Chinese class, these contents such as form of address, euphemism, homophonic words and dialect words are important. In Listening class, teaching of vocabulary with Chinese material culture and spiritual culture is key. In Writing class, on account of students situation, choosing proper vocabulary to practice is important. In Reading and Comprehensive class, the vocabulary, which impedes understanding of context must be explained.For foreign learners, the cultural factors in vocabulary make them confused and use vocabulary correctly. The paper presents specific teaching methods in different courses, and to help foreign learners understand Chinese vocabulary better and use them correctly and properly.
