The study of culture teaching in teaching Chinese as a second language began in the early1980s,flourished in the1990s.Up to now it’s also a very important research branch in teaching Chinese as a second language. A group of experts such as Zhang Zhanyi, Lv Bisong, Chang Jingyu, Bi Jiwan, Chen Guanglei, Hu Mingyang, Yu Congyang, Guangjun, Mei Lichong, Zhang Ying and so on, they have been studied culture teaching from different dimensions and made great achievements. They think culture teaching plays a very important role in the teaching Chinese as a second language and teacher should teach culture throughout the teaching Chinese as a second language. Their research involved the relation between language teaching and culture teaching, the content and classification of culture teaching, the methods and principles of culture teaching, cultural syllabus and teaching material in culture teaching. These researches also exist some inadequate. Such as emphasis on researching of culture teaching in language teaching, verbal communication, main cultural studies but pay a few attention on specialized teaching culture, nonverbal communication and local culture.This paper analyzed and the strengths and weaknesses of these researches, at the same time summed up my internship experiences in International Cultural Exchange School of Lanzhou University. I gave a brief overview to the main factors in culture teaching. Finally, I proposed the tactics of culture teaching and had a relevant exposition.This paper has four parts as follows.Chapter One is the Introduction. This part expounds six aspects. First I simply comb the history of the development of teaching Chinese as a second language, next clarify the relationship between the Chinese language and culture and point out cultural information in Chinese characters, vocabulary, expression and pragmatic. After that I review the current situation of culture teaching and discuss the orientation of culture teaching in teaching Chinese as a second language. Last I point out the purpose and significance of this paper.Chapter Two is the Study on Influential Factors of Culture Teaching in TCFL. From the factors as teacher, textbook and environment, I want to solve the problem how to deal with them and culture teaching.Chapter Three is the Classification and Content in Culture Teaching, it’s just an overall grasp for culture teaching. Culture in TCFL is mainly reflected in two aspects:one is the cultural factors in language courses; one is in the course of culture. Combining with the ultimate goal of TCFL and students’ need, I will give a detailed description.Chapter Four is the Study on the Strategies and Methods of Culture Teaching. This part solves the problem of culture teaching strategies on basis of theory and my own internship experience.
