Vocabulary is a crucial part in the lesson of teaching Chinese to foreign people. The unique attribution of Chinese force its learners to memorize the vocabulary literally rather than relying on the distinct external form of each word to help the memory, and therefore learning vocabulary in Chinese becomes a predicament for learners. Chinese Quasi-affix is an intermediate form between Root and Affix. It remains a part of root intention, while the original intention has been a bit grammatical. A brand-new Chinese wording formation "root plus affix" leads to an important way of creating new words in Chinese nowadays. Hence, if we were to infix the Quasi-affix into Chinese teaching, learners would master the Chinese word-building, derivation and new words, meanwhile they could enlarge their vocabulary and self-learning skills. This kind of teaching method would exerts an indispensible influence upon the population and standardization of Chinese, considering the globalization especially.This essay contains six parts.The first part is the introduction which concludes the necessity of this research, the research situation of the Quasi-affix in TCSOL and the research methods of the study.The second part is the research status of Quasi-affix which contains some major understanding differences of Quasi-affix and gives a conclusion of Quasi-affix defining.The third part is the research of Quasi-affix in TCSOL. The author studies and inspects HSK Grading Standards and Grammar Outline, The Graded Chinese Syllables, Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages and three sets of authorized textbooks. It gives the classification situation, frequency of occurrence and amount of the Quasi-affix, and meanwhile finds some deficiency and provides some suggestions. The forth part is a study of the foreign Chinese learner that contains a survey of27learners, aiming to understand their skill of using Quasi-affix. There are three majo r error types of using Quasi-affix based on the survey. Firstly, learners can not underst and the meaning of Quasi-affix and those words formed by Quasi-affix. Secondly, the y can not capture the word-building form of Quasi-affix. Finally, they can not underst and the integrity of Quasi-affix. The main reason of the misusing is the complication o f Quasi-affix, intralingua interference, lack of the background knowledge of the Chine se culture and the insufficient teaching of Quasi-affix in Chinese.The fifth part is an analysis of the survey. The author provides some teaching methods and strategies of Quasi-affix which is based on the survey of foreign learners and the analysis of. The author hopes to give some feasible teaching methods by discussing some issues that contains the preparation of teaching, classroom teaching and out of class learning.The final part is the conclusion in which the author concludes some main ideas and results.
