There is no art other than the drama has such a close relationship with the film. Ever since the appearance of the film, the drama has been long affecting the film. There are both links and differences between the drama and the film, as two different kinds of comprehensive art. Their links and differences have long been one of hot topics for scholars. In other words, the drama looks more like the godfather of the film. Not until the sound film showed its appearance, did the theater truly sense the threat presented by the emerging arts with tremendous vitalities. Vsevolod Meyerhold came up with a slogan "picturizing the drama" so as to make reform on the drama. However, looking back at the development history of the film, it can be seen that the film has long been dramatizing, which has contributed to the boom of the film in the early days. The Hollywood films in1920s and1930s and Chinese films in1930s and1940s are typical ones which have been dramatized. In the preliminary stage of the film, dramatic elements were integrated into films to make film close to the audience so as to make films to obtain a place in the realm of art.In the late1970s and early1980s, the desire of art circles which had just escaped from the Great Cultural Revolution for seeking a new road and getting rid of outmoded conventions became especially intense. Before that, films almost condescended to become dramatic "revolutionary operas" which were shot by the filmmaking equipment. Moreover, all kinds of outmoded conventions had seriously hindered the free development of the film. With a high sense of responsibility and enthusiasms, filmmakers have been engaged in the discussion about these problems. Thereby, in the filmdom, the debate on the film concepts has become a hot topic. In fact, the most important controversial viewpoints in the debate have a bearing on the drama. In the meantime, in the theatreland, for the new situation in the new era, scholars in the filed have broken the shackles of the traditional realism, audaciously made innovation on the styles of the dramas describing the real life and discussed about the drama concepts. The discussions about the drama concepts by people in the theatreland also have a bearing on the development of the film.In this paper, the drama concepts and film concepts in the first decade of the new era are taken as the object of this study. The drama concepts and films concepts are summarized and analyzed to make a comparison between links and changes of drama concepts and film concepts in the new era, so as analyze these concepts and find out their similarities and differences, in hope of showing the value of debates on these concepts in the era when people are passionate, through summarizing the viewpoints in the debates.This paper falls into three parts. In the first part, debates on the drama concepts and film concepts in the new era are analyzed. In the second part, debates on the film concepts in the new era are analyzed. In the third part, the links and changes of the drama concepts and film concepts in the new era are analyzed.
