Study Of Loanword In The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary

We collected and settled loanwords nearly thirty years and established the database ofloanwords by the theory of loanword at home and abroad,Modern Chinese Vocabulary Wordand People’s Daily Online.These loanwords are for designing to compile The ContemporaryChinese Dictionary.This article composes of four parts:Introduction: In this part,we clearly introduced The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary andloanwords in Chinese.And we cleared the purpose and the value of this subject,theideological,basic theory,the materials and methods.Part one: We cleareded the research achievement of loanwords in Chinese that refers toetymology research,ontology research and included studies.The research can mainly representthis subject.Part two: We defined loanword by the help of theory at home and abroad.We cleared theresearch achievement of loanwords abroad from defining loanword and reasons ofproducing.On the other hand, we discussed the diachronic development of loanwords andhistory of its name. According to the study, we can define loanword more clearly.Beside, wediscussed the free translation word, and the letter word and borrowing in Japanese.Weclassify letter word and investigate its included situation in some Ordinary languagedictionaries.We defined loanword and decided the received loanwords of standards in TheContemporary Chinese Dictionary by our inspections at home and abroad.Part three: We cleared the work what we need to do in editing loanwords in TheContemporary Chinese Dictionary.We emphasised on the properties of The ContemporaryChinese Dictionary. These principles consist of synchronic principle, scientific principles,systemic principle, normative principles, principle of high frequency and the stabilityprinciple. We discussed the principles in editing and methods including the proportion, therate and the structure of this dictionary. We stress the macrostructure and outside matter inparticular in our collection process.Part four: This part is conclusion.We solved the definitions of loanword, includedprinciples,included standards and included head-words in The Contemporary ChineseDictionary.At the same time,it concised what we have done and summaryed the questions of this subject that we need to follow. We can find many laws of loanword, chinesization of letterwords and etymology research of day source Han words that can help us in future.
