| As sports and media are increasingly intertwined, sporting events are going global dueto the intensive media coverage. In this context, the30thSummer Olympic Games inLondon from July28thto August12thin2012received extensive media attention as usual.The writer of this report took part in the coverage of London Olympic news in ChinaInternet Information Center (CIIC) in2012, responsible for choosing and transediting19English online sports news. The Chinese version contains around20,000characters. Basedon the transediting and from the perspectives of the topics, headlines and main bodies ofthe news texts, the writer reviews some strategies in transediting English sports newscombining related translation theories and skills, and also some common news transeditingskills in order to shed some light on English sports news transediting.This report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction includingthe background and significance of the report, and the similarities and differences betweentranseditting and translation. The second chapter is the work in CIIC of transeditingLondon Olympic news and the characteristics of sports news. In the third chapter, thestrategies are reviewed from the perspectives of topics, headlines, and main bodies of thenews texts. The fourth chapter is the conclusion.
