With the development of the Internet and the increase of its utilization, the network media has been developing and gradually becomes a more and more important means of communication, which has played a great influence in the field of news communication. As one of the important parts of the Internet news, the Internet sports news has been continuously developing. One of the main objectives of the Internet sports news is to spread information. In order to more easily and quickly pass the information from all over the world, transediting news has becoming a more important way to improve the timeliness of news reports.Transedition of news is based on the needs of the target-reader to edit and adjust source language texts and translate them for target readers to read. Skopos Theory emphasizes the purpose of the text, which means that flexible translation strategies should be adopted according to needs of target readers. Therefore, the Skopos Theory can offer guidance to transedit this kind of text. Based on the ―three laws‖ of the Skopos Theory, this thesis has made a study on the transediting strategies of English Internet sports news. This thesis analyzed the characteristics of the Internet sports news, introduced Skopos Theory and its guiding function to English Internet sports news. On the basis of all these, this thesis has explored the transediting strategies from the angle of news, titles, words, sentences and paragraphs, restructuring. The result of the transedition shows that the Skopos Theory works well in helping translators to select transediting strategies through analyzing examples.This thesis aims to provide reference for the transedition of the similar texts by summarizing transediting strategies.
