Research on learning strategy is an important subject in the study of second language acquisition, especially when considering that "more and more foreigners have a soaring enthusiasm for studying Chinese" all over the world. Scholars become more and more interested in doing research from the aspect of learning strategy, since people pay more attention to the psychological and cognitive mechanism of learners. Language Learning Strategy is the behaviors, procedures or skills that used in learning a second language to improve the language study. It is believed that the learning strategy could improve the internalization, storage, retrieval, and usage of a second language. Grammar strategies are an essential part in research of learning strategy.Based on the GLSS questionnaire and interview survey of the98students of Confucius Institute of Dongseo University of South Korea, the thesis made a quantitative study on the grammar strategies. Then I analyzed the collected date by SPSS statistical software. We investigated Chinese learners’general characteristics of grammar strategies and the differences among the learners with individual factors (gender, age group, learning time). Then we did individual interviews for Chinese learners to further investigate the influence caused by using different grammar strategies. The conclusions of the studies are described as follows:(1) The general characteristics of grammar strategies include:Although the Chinese learners often use grammar strategies, it is not very satisfactory, because Chinese learners of Confucius Institute of South Korea focus on oral communication and learners like to use more traditional strategies. As a result, there are high frequencies on affective strategies and social strategies in indirect strategies; high frequencies on memory strategies and meta-cognitive strategies in direct strategies; low frequencies on cognitive strategies.(2) There are no significant differences on the aspect of using grammar strategies among the Chinese learners who are different in gender. But there is significant difference on use of grammar indirect strategies between the Chinese learners who are different in age. And there is also significant difference on use of compensation strategy among the Chinese learners who are different in learning time. This article broadens the range of study on grammar strategies, and provides data support for the researchers who would like to make further studies on Chinese grammar strategies. The data and analyses offer important enlightenments for the teaching of foreign student, especially South Korea ones. The studies on the Chinese grammar strategies are not only conducive to the enhancement of teaching effect, but to improvement of autonomous learning abilities for higher learning efficiency.
