In this thesis, we reviewed the academic research status of numerals in English andChinese. On the basis of current achievement in chinese-english cultural connotation ofone to ten, we made a further exploration of the origin and formation, and have carried onthe chinese-english contrastive analysis of the main cultural meanings in cardinal numbers.By retrieving the HSK dynamic corpus about wrong numerals sentences and analyzing thequestionnaire’s feedback, we made conclusions on the errors which may did by the chineselearners during the learning process. Furthermore, we discussed the types and reasons oferrors. According to the difficulty part and important point in acquiring numerals, as wellas the characters of students’ errors, some effective teaching strategies are proposed inorder to reduce the occurs of errors, also trying to improve the quality of class at the sametime.
