With the conference centered on national vocational education held during June 23 rd and24th,2014 in Beijing,General secretary of the CPC Central Committee,state president and CMC president Xi Jinping made important instructions in order to speed up the development of vocational education.He said: “ Shouldering the vital responsibility of training all-round talents,passing on advanced technologies and skills,as well as promoting employment and entrepreneurship,vocational education plays an important role in national education system and the exploration of human resources,which acts like a lighthouse enlightening young people’s future.With the formation of the world market and the rapid development of the economic globalization,English,as the most globally versatile language,becomes increasingly outstanding in national education.Especially the vocational English,as an indispensible means in our social life and cross-cultural communication,keeps improving gradually.Besides,China,regarded as the most enormous modern “ World Market”,has attached great importance on foreign language training in vocational colleges,in which,vocational English training has been receiving more and more support and attention from all walks of society,varying from employment to social life and national development.Considering the fierce competitions in the job-hunting markets,educators in vocational colleges are now facing the unprecedented pressure to cultivate all-round talents with both excellent working abilities and continuous learning capabilities.However,the truth is that the students in vocational colleges face lots of difficulty in study,such as lacking learning interest,appropriate learning strategies and reasonable learning evaluating systems.In order to handle the current problem and help the sutdents acquire autonomous learning abilities,I focus on applying some innovative teaching methods in the class,such as the task-based teaching method,anchored teaching method,transposition teaching method and communicative teaching method.Through the pre-and post-tests,we can clearly observe that the difference arsing betwwen the two groups,namely,the target group and the control group.Thus,I can draw the conclusino that employing the exerimental teaching methods actually influences the teaching outcomes pofitively.However,owing to the lack of time and the number of samples,the conclusion may be insufficient.But I do hope it can act as a theoretical and practical foudation for other educators to have deeper consideration.However,in terms of the speed of development,the vocational education in China has just stepped on the right track.To a large extent,several aspects can’t meet the national demands in education,such as the whole training management system,teaching mechanism,the teaching level and the teaching efficiency,which are still unsatisfactory.In company ofthese problems,foreign language training in vocational colleges,especially the English training,still needs correction and perfection.Blunders are various,the most obvious one of which mainly derives from how to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability.The problem has been contantly ignored by most educators,which,consequently,has fiercely and sadly hampered the students’ English improvement these years.Therefore,I put this theory in the students majoring in cabin service.And I firmly believe that this paper is particularly significant to refresh the present state of students’ inidependent learning ability in vocational colleges in our country.
