The Ideology Of Xing And Qing Of Confucianism In Guodian Slips

The ideology of Xing and Qing is an important topic of traditional Chinese philosophical ethics. The original religious sentiments, Confucius’humanity,"Dao begun in Qing","Qing born in Xing" in the literature of "Xing comes out of life" have been extended until the modern doctrine of Neo-Confucianism heart and mind, temperament throughout the phylogeny of Chinese philosophy ethics. But the meaning of Xing and Qing in the phylogeny of Chinese philosophy ethics is limited by the understanding of the Eastern Han Xu Shen’s "Dictionary". The explanation of Xing and Qing in "Heart of Dictionary" is that "Xing is yang and good heart, and subordinated to the sound of Sheng whether Qing is yin and lust, and subordinated to the sound of Qing." Accordingly, the ideology of Xing and Qing has the following main connotation. First, Xing and Qing are involved with heart. Second, Xing and Qing are combined with the theory of yin and yang, and Xing is yang whether Qing is yin. Last, Xing is good heart whether Qing is lust. The understanding is hold in high esteem by future generations for nearly two thousand years. Whether Neo-Confucianism had dept the ideology of Xing and Qing but they also belonged to this understanding. Until the1990s, the Guodian Bamboo Slips "Xing comes out of life" was found, the understanding of Xing and Qing has been changed. What’s more, academia is starting to focus on the Confucian ideology of emotion and the ideology of Xing and Qing becomes an academic research hot spot. But the exact meanings of Xing, Qing and propositions like "Dao begun in Qing" and "Qing born in Xing" in the excavated documents need to be further studied. This is a motivation for me to study the ideology of Xing and Qing. Now I study the ideology of Xing and Qing according to the Guodian Bamboo Slips and relational academic achievements.The paper has several parts. First, I study the ideology of Confucian Xing and Qing before the Guodian Bamboo Slips and Shanghai Museum Bamboo Slips was excavated. The literature is "Doctrine of the Mean","Mencius", Dong Zhongshu’s "Deep Study Name" and "Authenticity" in "Chun Qiu Fan Lu", Wang Chong’s "Carefree" and "Nature" in "Lunheng", Ban Gu’s "Xing and Qing" in "Baihu General Sense", Han Yu’s "Initial nature" and Li Ao’s "Restore nature" and so on. I analyze the ideology of Xing and Qing in the literature to tease out its rheological process. Secondly, the most important part of the thesis is to research Confucian Xing and Qing in Guodian Bamboo Slips based on the several texts of "Nature Comes out of Life","Five Elements","Standing" and "Six Roles". Elucidate the meaning of proposition like "Dao begun in Qing" and "Qing born in Xing". On the basis of the destiny concept as well as Xing and Qing, I research how the pre-Qin Confucian destiny falls into the Xing and Qing. I study how pre-Qin Confucian develop benevolence, righteousness, etiquette and wisdom to Qing, and Qing’s exact meaning in the proposition "Dao begun in Qing". Take "Qing born in Xing" as an opportunity to study the relationship between Xing and Qing and the influence of Xing in the pre-Qin Confucianism. What’s more, research how the ideology of Xing and Qing went through "Qing born in Xing", the yin and yang theory of universe, the influence of Buddhism and then turned into Neo-Confucianism temperament opposition in order to restore the original subject of the pre-Qin Confucian theory. Finally, discuss the value and status of the Guodian Bamboo Slips Confucian Xing and Qing ideology in the history of the Confucianism.
