Lun Yu School was a special being in the Chinese literature history in the1930s. As a loose literati group, it appeared in the literary field with the gesture of liberalism as they stayed away from the politics. And the writers in this group vigorously advocated the creation of humorous essays, which had a profound effect on the development of Chinese humorous literature and the prose literary form.Fortnightly Analect, as the representative journal of LunYu School, lasted more than ten years and was a main platform for the translation and introduction of western literature. In this thesis, the author intends to take the translated literature works in the Fortnightly Analect as the research target, and study the cultural identity, cultural standpoints and literary influence of the LunYu School.This paper consists of four chapters:The first chapter centers on gathering and classifying the translation work in the Fortnightly Analect with country of origin and style of writing as the two main classification criteria. The second chapter starts out from the humor theory and analyses the residential standpoint, the translation models and the literary underlying the humor literary translations. Then the third chapter studies the epoch feature of the translated works and draws the conclusion from the perspective of translation that the writers in LunYu School were not living in an ivory tower as we usually imagine, instead, they paid a lot of attention to national matters and social affairs. Chapter Four elaborates on the LunYu School’s translation thoughts system which constitutes of the artistry of translation, translator’s subjectivity and multiple translation standards.
