Flame Retardant Finishing Of Cotton And Polyester Fabrics Performance Impact Study

In the various fields of textile products, cotton and polyester are the two most widely used fabric. Flame retardant finishing of cotton and polyester is important to prevent fires and reduce fire casualties, property damage.This paper describes mechanism and classification of flame retardant, the principle of cotton and polyester flame retardant, the development of domestic and foreign cotton and polyester flame retardant finishing technology.In this paper, cotton fabrics were finished by three kinds of flame retardant, polyester fabrics were finished by four kinds of flame retardants. By limiting oxygen index test and vertical burning test to the flame-retardant fabrics, the flame retardant effect can be measured;the presence of flame retardants in fabrics can be token by infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy analysis of the various fabrics;the mechanism of various flame-retardant fabrics can be analysis by cone calorimeter test, thermo gravimetric analysis testing, and rate of char yield and scanning electron microscopy analysis were used to verify the flame retardant mechanism.Then the flame-retardant fabric mechanical properties (tensile properties, tear properties, wear resistance), comfort properties(drape, breathability, moisture regain, water vapor permeability, crease recovery, insulation) and other wearability were analysed, the affect of the flame retardant finishing to cotton fabrics and polyester fabrics physical and mechanical properties were analyzed.Finally, the fuzzy decision-making evaluation methods was used, to filtrate the application of flame-retardant fabrics in different fabric areas include the protective clothing, everyday clothing, the decorative fabrics and the transportation interiors fabric. Obtain the most suitable areas of the fabrics that were finished by flame retardants and their processes.
