Along with the global demand for rare earth is more and more big, the demand for the purification and separation of rare earth is more and more high. Technology of separating rare earth is developing from the fractional step method to the ion exchange method and then to the now widely used solvent extraction method. So the requirements of the extraction equipment are also getting higher and higher. If the application of artificial funnel used for cascade extraction method to verify the rationality of the equipment process parameters, a lot of manpower material resources will be cost. The same time, the surrounding environment may also lead to draw the wrong conclusions. The application of computer simulation cascade extraction experiments can be overcome the inconvenience brought by artificial.This paper contrapose the equipment designed for a mixed rare earth contain Nd and Sm separating and extracting. Based on the cascade extraction theory presented by Xu Guangxian, Li Guobiao and so on. According to the known material composition and extraction to achieve the product export purity. The parameter of the extraction device designed by the optimal extraction ratio static balance design method and the extreme formula method static balance design method. The parameter contains extraction section series n and scrubbing section series m.Firstly, using MATLAB software for the dynamic simulation of the cascade extraction process. The material distribution in balance, the cumulant in extraction section, a washing section and a groove from the start to the balance of the whole process, the purity of Nd and Sm in feeding water phase, the purity of Nd in the water phase of the first level and the purity of Sm in the organic phase of the last level are analyzed and compared.After that, In the application of the same extraction system conditions, the volume of the extraction equipment which designed by the two methods is designed and daily processing capacity is calculated, thus further analysis.High purity of Sm and Nd can extracted by the extraction equipment which designed in this paper. At the same time, certain value for the design of the equipment process parameters of the cascade extraction separation of any two of the light of rare earth mixed rare earth and the process design line of the mixer settler in use can be gave by this study of this test.
