Everyone who watched the2008top grossing movie "WALLE" by Pixar must has been shocked by a scene of "garbage planet". In order to prevent it from coming true, countries around the globe are researching and developing garbage classification systems. Beijing has started to try to classify garbage since1956. However, its effect is still unsatisfying up to today. The reason why successfully designed products can perfectly combine man’s behavior and make people support this behavior joyfully for a longtime is that they are closely connected with consumers’ behavior and the environment of using them. Only through careful observation and analysis and through designing behavior-coordinated products can people be attracted and approve these emotion-attached designs. Then they can change their old physiological patterns such as attitude toward life, environmental awareness and value orientation. Based on this up-mentioned understanding, this paper starts from a thorough observation of garbage classification in our daily life, brings in some fundamental theories of behaviorism and environmental sciences, and systematically analyses garbage classification in our life. Some key words have been concluded:attitude, awareness, attention and environment. Then it tries to redesign garbage classification system, changing garbage classification in life through the method of designing. On the basis of that, this paper puts forward a further design suggestion on improving the effectiveness of household garbage classification system, hoping to reach a goal of real efficiency improvement. Finally, this paper brings out a conclusive viewpoint—only when designers fully focus on man’s behavior and existence and provide as concrete means as possible for a better life, can design genuinely reflect a unique value of creativity and lead to social and economic progress.
