Dazzling weapon based on high-power LED is designed and investigated in this paper. Dazzling weapon is a kind of anti-terrorism, anti-uprising and non-lethal weapon. This paper focuses on the power supply and control of dazzling weapon as well as its thermal design.Firstly, the basic operating principles and the key technologies of the weapon are generally stated and discussed, and an overall design work of its system is carried out. Two solutions to the driving power of the weapon, circuits based on the XL6003driver and the MCU, are put forward. And isolated variable circuit and its improved version are designed, which are simulated by Proteus and Matlab/Simulink.Secondly, thermal analysis of the high-power LED and power modular is conducted. Thermal impedance models of both single and multiple high-power LED are built and their calculation theories are analyzed. The electrical resistance model of the high-power LED packaging is proposed, and the heating mechanism of the LED as a cold light is analyzed through this model.Finally, the packaging model of aluminum-free substrate LED is provided. Thermal simulation by Ansys-icepak is made and the arrangement of the instruments on the circuit board is instructed by the temperature nephogram of a power modular. The application requirements of the high-power LED and its driving power can be met through appropriate thermal design.
